Lizzie Buchanan and Pippa Warrell both arrived in Europe from the Antipodes in the mid-1980s with postgraduate degrees in physiotherapy from leading universities and specialist experience in treating musculoskeletal problems in their home countries of New Zealand and Australia, respectively. Pippa worked and taught in London, and Lizzie worked and taught at the Cantonal Hospital in Geneva before they met in London. Bonding over a glass of rose, they identified the need for a different and more specialist physiotherapy provision in the medical district and quickly decided to establish a practice together. In 1987, Harley Street Physiotherapy was formed from premises at 128 Harley Street and quickly attracted referrals from GPs and consultants. Since then, the practice has moved within the Harley Street area to accommodate growth and development, most recently in 2018 to our rooms at 25 Wimpole Street. Our wonderful team has of course developed with us over the years and we have extended our offering by recruiting physiotherapists with specialist skills across the full range of our patient needs, as well as highly trained instructors in Pilates and Strength and Conditioning, massage therapy and domiciliary care for those who cannot visit us in person. We have also established in-house physiotherapy practices in the offices of two of London's leading law firms. 

At the core of our practice, though, our founding philosophy remains unchanged: to know our patients as people, to liaise closely where necessary with their doctors and specialists and to deliver the most effective holistic care for each individual. In some cases, and with more than 35 years in the Harley Street area, we now treat three generations of the same families as their physical conditions and needs change, as well as welcoming new patients of all ages .
