Persistent or chronic pain is described as pain that persists beyond the normal time that tissues take to heal following an injury.

It affects many people and for some so severely that it restricts their ability to live their normal life. Most soft tissue injuries take several months to completely heal. If pain continues longer than 3 months, it is known as persistent pain. The emotional brain can be a key driver and there are many identifiable causes.
