The school year has started, and we’re already seeing a rise in aches, pains and injuries for our students. After a summer break, there are a few common complaints we often see:
Back and neck pain - new heavy rucksacks, sitting for extended periods, and increased technology use.
Growing pains - especially during growth spurts.
Sports injuries - returning to sports after a break or introducing new sports can increase the risk of injury if not done gradually.
So how can physiotherapy help?
Detailed assessment of posture, movement, strength and gait
Education on posture and ergonomics
Support with exercises to improve flexibility, coordination and strength
Diagnose and treat injuries and pain in the growing child
Empower with strategies for better physical habits throughout the school year
Getting early assessment and management can help prevent minor issues becoming chronic and ensure children and young people can stay learning, playing and developing with fun and confidence.
