Plantar Fasciitis
The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue on the bottom of the foot. It connects the heel to the toes and supports the arch. Plantar fasciitis occurs when this tissue becomes overloaded, causing microtears, inflammation, and thickening.
Typical symptoms:
-
Pain in the heel or arch of the foot (sometimes swollen)
-
Sharp pain with first steps in the morning or after rest
-
Pain that worsens with standing, walking, or exercise
-
Symptoms building gradually over weeks or months
We use a combination of progressive strengthening, load management and hands-on treatment to reduce pain and prevent recurrence:
-
Exercise rehabilitation: strength and mobility programme tailored to your needs
-
Orthotics: semi-bespoke or fully custom insoles to reduce stress on the fascia
-
Shockwave therapy: promotes healing in long-standing cases
-
Taping: rigid or flexible taping to support the foot during flare-ups
-
Soft tissue & joint mobilisation
-
Footwear changes, heel cushions, or wedges
-
Training load adjustments for runners and athletes
